Why We Built This Site
Virginia separates court case files, magistrate process, and law-enforcement information. In Buckingham County, a person may need the General District Court clerk for traffic or misdemeanor records, the Circuit Clerk for a Circuit file, or the Sheriff’s Office for a question about service. The magistrate is a judicial officer, not a sheriff’s records clerk. It is easy to search one place and miss a separate record or a restricted case.
This site organizes public contact routes and explains what each office can answer. The official Buckingham court pages and Sheriff’s Office page remain the sources for current schedules, contacts, and procedures. When the sources do not show a public warrant list or a fixed resolution process, the site says so.
For a status question, use the court or agency with authority over that part of the record. A public case result is not a live warrant certification.
What You Will Find Here
The pages explain how to begin an OCIS case search, how to tell common warrant and court process apart, and where to call when a result is incomplete. They cover Virginia’s capias terminology, traffic failure-to-appear rules, public-record access, the state’s restricted law-enforcement systems, and the single incorporated town profile, Dillwyn.
County sources include the General District Court, Circuit Court, Magistrate’s Office, and Sheriff’s Office. State law and court guidance are linked near the claims they support. Links are provided so a reader can confirm changing details with the agency itself.
The material supports a person checking their own possible warrant or helping a family member understand a notice. It does not collect or display names, warrant records, mugshots, or private case examples.
What We Cannot Do
This is not a government office. We cannot search VCIN or NCIC, confirm whether a specific warrant is active, recall a warrant, set bond, arrange a surrender, or file a motion. We do not maintain a live county warrant database. The Buckingham County sources reviewed did not identify a public warrant roster or separate Dillwyn criminal court portal.
A court result can be incomplete, delayed, or outside the public search. J&DR matters have additional confidentiality protections. For a personal legal question, contact the issuing court and consider speaking with a Virginia attorney. A sheriff’s main line may route a service question, but it is not a promise that every status detail can be released.
The county’s official page lists 13042 W. James Anderson Highway for the Sheriff’s Office, while the magistrate page shows 13043. Call before visiting. Public hours for the magistrate were not stated in the source reviewed.
Search Partners
The two search bands on content pages contain a sponsored third-party search tool. Information typed into that tool is handled by its provider under the provider’s own terms and privacy policy. Buckingham County, Virginia courts, and the Sheriff’s Office do not operate it. Do not treat a result as an official warrant record, and verify any possible court matter with the named court or law-enforcement agency.
Use the official links in the page text when you need a court record, a public-record request, or a current agency contact. The tool does not provide legal advice or a clearance decision.
